Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago serves 1 million people in Cook and Lake counties. Because of the state budget impasse, this social services arm of the Catholic Church is owed $25 million, and is facing potential program closures and staff layoffs.
Catholic Charities gives help to senior citizens so they can stay in their homes, provides daycare to low-income parents so they can work, and finds shelter for the homeless so they can rest and eat.
Please reach out to the governor and your state lawmakers, and ask them to end this budget impasse so that Catholic Charities of Chicago and other social service providers can continue their work of caring for the poor and marginalized.
