The Catholic Conference of Illinois today sent a letter to the editor to the Chicago Tribune in response to their editorial advocating for final passage of redefinition of marriage legislation.
The letter can be viewed here.
The Tribune published our letter — unchanged — in its online section.
Senate Bill 10 calls for the state's legal definition of marriage to be changed from "between a man and a woman" to "between two persons." The measure passed the Senate in mid-February, and has yet to be called for a vote in the Illinois House. The spring legislative session is set to end at midnight on Fri., May 31.
